Jessica, Tim sure is a nice looking boy. I don't know if you've noticed, but NBC Nightly News has been having a segment on autism every day this week. Also, Imus of "Imus in the Morning" seems to have taken up the cause this week. |

Thanks for that, Steve...he is lovely. And I'm checking that out on the web! |

Good luck on the site, Jess - it's a good thing. I'm grateful for the help that is available for Tim now that wasn't there just a few years ago. With your support, he will be fine :) |

Howdy, Excellent site (graphically & topically), very interesting approach to learning, attractive Pepper, but most of all...a great young Tim. |

Just started to cry when I read about you, because I had a similar idea for my son with ADHD. He loves parrots, especially macaws. I've never seen him so still as when he is holding a parrot. So, his pionus, QTPi, is being weaned, and Will is earning points for good behavior to buy QTPi. Will's speech has also improved since we've become bird enthusiasts (past 2 months), so I'm definitely convinced of the value of birds as therapy! Thanks for getting it all on the web, and wishing you very, very well. |

Hi Sherry~ Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look at our site. It amazes me how much information is coming out about our kids and the kind of affection they seem to develop for these birds. I am *so* glad to hear that your son is responding well to his avian friend--we are all just thrilled with how Pepper has adapted to our family! Thanks again, Jessica (Tim and Pepper, and my daughter Ann, too) |

Hi Jessica, I have a nephew who will be 9 on Aug 16, he was diagnosed with asbergers syndrome, a higher learning autistic. He doesn't like school because its difficult, he can't really read, do english grammar or such. He is very intelligent, he watches Discovery channel and memorizes everything he sees and hears. He loves anything to do with science especially animals. His favs are reptiles, mostly snakes. He wants a snake real bad for his b-day. We of course don't like snakes. I'm thinking lizard. I own a 13 yr old male grey cockatiel, Maxi, and a 2 1/2 yr old female senegal, Pepper; short for SweetPepper. My nephew mostly teases the birds and is a bit afraid of them. We have to carefully watch him when he's over. We hope to work with him on respecting birds as he does his snakes and frogs that he catches. We keep learning more about autism in order to help my nephew. I'm glad Tim and Pepper have a great relationship and are learning together. Thanks for a great informative website. Teri, Pepper, and Maxi |

Hi , just wanted to let you know that I think what your doing is wonderful. MY grandson is Austic. So we have been there and done most of what you have. I have a very strong belief that animals for some rason reach where we can not. M.J. is not centered on one animal but is totally involved with all that he can see or touch.Because we live in the country, he is exposed to a little of all kinds. It is the one place that he is so excited that he wants to tell the world. Considering that at 3 he didn't talk at all to being 6 now and gabbering like crazy. I have no medical training and by no means an expert but I'd like to sugest that you try your son on DMG. It has helped JM so much.I'd like to tell you more about it so...PLEASE feel free to email at any time.I know we have shared some of some of the same heart ache but also the Joy that only comes with a loved one that is Austic.........! Always keep HiHopes..! Linda |
